Fall Foliage Peak Predictor

Everyone — and we mean everyone — in the DMV is on leaf watch. So when will fall color really pop in the region?

According to the Smoky Mountains National Park’s 2015 Fall Foliage Prediction Map, D.C. will be treated to some stunning oranges, reds, purples and yellows between October 17 and 24.

Now to figure out where to see this majestic process. You can do the obvious and check out Skyline Drive and Rock Creek Park, but how about checking out some really cool corridors in the District that should be boasting some awesome sights instead?

Back in October 2013, our Technical Services and Research Department put together viewing routes of five vibrant species — red maple, sugar maple, ginkgo, pin oak and American elm. We think it’s still pretty cool  so we are reviving it here for your fall leafing adventures.

Have suggestions for other great locations to check out fall color? Send them our way and we will be sure to share with others.
