An Opportunity as Fleeting as the Blossoms

Looking for something new to do this Cherry Blossom Festival? Well, lucky for you, D.C.-based walking tour company Washington Walks is teaming up with Casey Trees to present “Blossom Secrets with Casey Trees”.

For three Saturdays during the 100th anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, our own Priscilla Plumb will be joining Washington Walks to offer you an informative, up-close look at the history and phenomenon of the Japanese cherry tree, as well as an overview of the different varieties that adorn the National Mall, and sites such as the Enid Haupt Garden (located on the south side of the Smithsonian Castle) and the grounds of the Department of Agriculture headquarters.

And the best part? Not only do you get to learn about the fascinating history of one of this country’s most celebrated events, but you also get to help out your favorite nonprofit. That’s because this year, proceeds from the walks will go to Casey Trees and our tree planting and education initiatives!

So try something new this year and take advantage of this opportunity to learn all about our capital city’s trees and the Cherry Blossom tradition, all while helping Casey Trees!

“Blossom Secrets with Casey Trees” will be given at 11:00 a.m. on the next three Saturdays, March 31, April 7 and April 14. The walks will take place rain or shine. Cost is $20; kids under age 3 are free. Reservations are required and can be made by visiting the Washington Walks website or calling 202-484-1565.
