February and March Programming

After Snowzilla we can all use some time out of the house. We have something for everyone whether it’s singing tree-themed songs with your little ones at Buds Story Time or screening DIRT! The Movie at Busboys and Poets.

February 6, 2016               RESCHEDULED Tree Tour: Winter in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

Join “A Year in Rock Creek Park” author Melanie Choukas-Bradley for a winter tree ID walk in the Sculpture Garden. Attendees get a thermos and hot chocolate to keep them warm on their adventure.

February 12, 2016      Family Program: Buds Story Time at the Hill Center

Meet us at the Hill Center for our Buds family program, an interactive tree-focused story time aimed toward an audience of toddlers and preschoolers. Children learn about nature through books, songs, crafts and a special scavenger hunt!

Come learn about trees in this  introductory course covering tree anatomy, tree identification, and an overview of the benefits of Washington’s urban forest.

Dirt! The Movie, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, will completely change how you view and value dirt — and make you appreciate the important role trees play in nourishing and replenishing the earth.

February 27, 2016       Class: Trees 201

Trees 201 builds of the foundation blocks laid in Trees 101. Expect to learn more advanced tree identification skills and how to identify the right tree for the right place.

March 5, 2016             Class: Tree Planting Workshop

During this workshop, participants will learn how to select and prepare a tree planting site and properly plant the tree to ensure its survival.
